Diving in Spain - Canary Islands

In 1312, Fuerteventura was discovered, along with Lanzarote, by the Portuguese explorer Lancelotto Malocello. With an area of 1,659.74 square kilometers, it is the second-largest island in the Canary Islands. Together with Gran Canaria, the three islands are part of the Spanish province of Las Palmas, but geographically they belong to Africa.

Fuerteventura is the oldest island in the Canary Islands and is sparsely populated. The official language is Spanish. Small coastal towns, cliffs in the west, arid, desert-like landscapes with rolling plains, romantic palm groves, extinct volcanic craters, and 13 nature reserves ensure there’s never a dull moment. Thanks to its sparse population, Fuerteventura guarantees a relaxing getaway away from mass tourism and is also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts.
