Abu Dabab, Egypt

The hard coral garden around Abu Dabab I lies at depths ranging from 7 to 25 meters. It’s always worth looking under the large table corals while diving; you’ll often find large, old groupers there.

In Abu Dabab II, you’ll find the wreck of the “Heaven One” in the inner area. There isn’t much left to see of the wreck. A large moray eel has made its home there. Additionally, at the end of the dive, it’s always recommended to make a short detour into the lagoon, where you’ll find various species of nudibranchs and wart snails.

Abu Dabab III is ideal for night dives. Spanish dancers are a common sight.

For daytime dives, it’s best to have the Zodiac drop you off at the Habili between Abu Dabab II and III and then return by keeping the reef on your right as you pass through the colorful coral garden.

Abu Dabab V is a highlight for divers who love caves. From the middle of the reef to the southern end, the reef is riddled with holes like Swiss cheese. The cave passages lie at depths ranging from three to eight meters and frequently open up toward the surface. Depending on a diver’s body size, the cave passages can be very narrow or somewhat wider :-). In the center of the reef, the cave passages are more spacious; the farther south you go, the narrower the beautifully overgrown cave passages become.
