The dive site

Dahret Abid at a glance

Dahret Abid is an island located about 35 km north of the Eritrean border. The early morning dive takes place on the eastern side, where a small plateau extends out into the open water. The first part of the dive takes you out into the open water, where a large school of hammerhead sharks is often seen circling. Here, silky sharks, large gray sharks, and sailfish are frequently spotted swimming past.

Just above 30 meters, along the reef wall, there are spectacular hard and soft corals. This reef is home to many reef dwellers, ranging from batfish to large sweetlips. The whitetip reef sharks are also curious and are drawn to the unusual presence of divers. To the southeast, the reef is densely covered with black corals, which provide shelter and a home for many schooling fish. This dive is a highlight!

In the afternoon, at the western corner, dive into a school of surgeonfish, swim slowly along a beautiful drop-off, and watch schools of jackfish, tuna, and barracuda.   

This reef simply has it all.
