Daymaniyat Islands

This chain of nine small rocky islands, located 18 km off the coast of Ras al-Sawadi in northern Oman, has been a nature reserve for several years. The Daymaniyat Islands are the Sultanate’s first nature reserve. Diving in this maritime wonderland—with its extensive reefs, steep rock faces, drop-offs reaching depths of up to 30 m, and diverse coral gardens—is only permitted with special government permits. Even with a diving permit, access to the islands remains prohibited in almost all areas to protect the rare seabirds that nest here. Around the Daymaniyats, there is an excellent chance of encountering large fish such as whale sharks, leopard sharks, and stingrays, as well as sea turtles.
