German Barge

The wreck, a barge, is a small German vessel 50 meters long that sank during World War II. Today it lies on a seabed of rubble and sand, with its bow pointing north, at a depth of 36 meters and its stern at a depth of 42 meters. It is in very good condition, and because of its small size, it can be explored from bow to stern in a single dive. The wreck’s external superstructure is still intact and only lightly colonized, which makes it easy to see the individual components of the superstructure. The cargo winch at the bow is a highlight. It is possible to admire the interior of the cargo holds. On deck, there are countless tube worms, sea squirts, and diadem sea urchins.

The dive is conducted from shore and is rated as moderate in difficulty. The seabed off the shore is sandy and drops off steeply. You’ll encounter scabbardfish, large starfish, and the occasional octopus hidden among the few rocks.
