Wreck of the Domiat (HMS Nith - K255)
The River-class frigate was built for the British Navy in 1940. During World War II, these frigates were used to escort convoys, hunt submarines, and provide anti-aircraft defense.

As part of the modernization of the British Royal Navy, part of the fleet was sold off. The “HMS Nith” was sold to Egypt and, beginning in 1948, operated under the name “Domiat” in the area stretching from the Red Sea to the Suez Canal. During the Suez Crisis, the “Domiat” was sunk on November 1, 1956, during combat operations against Royal Navy units.

Today, the “Domiat” lies on a sandy seabed at a depth of approximately 53 meters. Several cannons of various calibers point in all directions. Depth charges can be found at the stern. Large sections of the deck planking are missing, support structures have collapsed, and the frames are twisted. Considering that the wreck has been lying on its side for nearly 60 years, it is still in very good condition.
