The dive site
Paradise Reef at a glance
To the east and west, the reef walls drop to a depth of 20 meters, where sandy and coral areas extend from 20 to 30 meters deep before giving way to a rather uninteresting drop-off. To the south is a lagoon at a depth of approximately 3 to 8 meters. The most attractive part of the reef is the south side.
There, you can immediately see why the reef is called Paradise Reef. At the southwestern end of the reef, at depths of 5 to 8 meters, there are several entrances to the cave system. The cave passages open up to the water’s surface at various points, and the sunlight creates fascinating plays of light inside the passages. In the passages, which are covered with soft corals and small fan corals, you’ll find blue-spotted stingrays, small fields of anemones, yellow-spotted flatworms, ornate snails, and wart snails.
At the southeastern end of the reef, a reef pillar rises to a depth of approximately 6 to 8 meters. It is covered with a large field of anemones, where tiny jewel shrimp and the even harder-to-find magnificent shrimp hide.
In the coral garden, you can spot thick moray eels among the coral blocks.
