The Dome - Noonu Atoll
The dive site
The Dome - Noonu Atoll at a glance
Without a doubt, “The Dome” offers some of the most impressive overhangs to be found in the Maldives.
Huge, beautifully overgrown caverns up to 15 meters high characterize this dive site in the northwest of Kuda-Funafaru. The ceilings and walls of these caverns are alternately covered with either yellow or blue soft corals—the resulting play of light can only be described as fantastic.
Dreamlike conditions and challenges for all photographers and videographers. In the northwest of this reef, at a depth of 15 meters, we find a vertical, approximately 8-meter-long, chimney-like passage that connects two overhangs.
All overhangs and steep walls are covered with soft and hard corals of all kinds, among which all sorts of crustaceans hide. Time and again, large schools of king mackerel and spiny mackerel race past the caves and steep walls. Large schools of fusiliers, butterflyfish, and snappers accompany divers as they ascend along the beautiful reef top.
