The Haa Alifu Atoll is the northernmost atoll in the Maldives and is located 280 km from the capital island of Malé. This atoll holds special significance for the Maldivians. It is the birthplace of the national hero Muhammad Thakurufaanu (1573–1585).

Sultan Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu liberated the Maldives from Portuguese colonial rule. The atoll, with its capital Dhidhoo, has approximately 10,000 residents living on its 16 inhabited islands. Twenty-four other islands in the atoll are uninhabited.

The Amba was the first liveaboard to traverse the northern Maldives and offers diving tours to and from Hanimaadhoo in the Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu atolls. The transfer to the northernmost atoll in the Maldives is a comfortable flight (flight time approx. 35–50 minutes).

After arriving in Malé, you’ll be flown comfortably to Hanimaadhoo on one of the domestic flights. The flight offers fantastic views of the atolls and islands of the Maldives.
