Mini Liveaboard Trip to Ras Mohamed and Tiran

This three-day liveaboard trip is a popular alternative for visiting the top dive sites in the Red Sea away from the crowds of day-trip dive boats. It can be perfectly combined with a land-based stay in the Sinai.

On this liveaboard, you’ll visit Ras Mohamed National Park with its endless drop-offs, as well as the reefs in the Strait of Tiran with their colorful coral gardens.


Day 1, Evening: Transfer to Travco Marina and check-in. Welcome aboard, cabin assignments, boat briefing, application for a departure permit from port authorities, and departure in the early morning hours of the next day.

Day 2, Morning: Once the departure permit has been granted, we’ll head to the nearby dive sites Temple or Ras Katy for a check dive. The next dive site is Jackfish Alley. At the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula lie Shark and Yolanda Reefs. Here, the third dive of the day takes you to a steep wall that is unique in its coral diversity.

Day 3: Early in the morning, we head to Tiran. The first dive is at Jackson Reef, the northernmost reef in the Strait of Tiran. After breakfast, we head to the sheltered east side of Woodhouse Reef for another drift dive. The third dive depends heavily on prevailing weather conditions and takes you to either the north or south lagoon of Tiran Island. You’ll usually spend the night in the south lagoon, where a night dive is also possible.

Day 4 Morning: The first dive is at Thomas Reef, the smallest of the four Tiran Reefs and likely home to the most interesting underwater fauna and flora, followed by the shallower Gordon Reef with its large plateau. After lunch, you’ll leave the Strait of Tiran and head back to Sharm. Options for the third dive include Ras Nasrani, Ras Ghamila, or Ras Um Sid. Afterward, return to the harbor and check out.
